Psalm 89:2, 8 (read the whole psalm about God's faithfulness)
"I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself...
O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you."
Like most dogs Hamish is faithful. As one dictionary put faithfulness - Hamish is “steady in allegiance or affection; loyal; constant” companion, although he is no ‘greyfriars bobby’!
(I like to believe in the original story)
I think God created that attribute in dogs so we would always be reminded of God’s faithfulness. Not that we should need dogs to show us that, but more that we need it to be reinforced in our daily thinking.
Deuteronomy 32:4
"He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he."
God is faithful, steadfast and trustworthy. Our dogs will let us down, our spouse, our friends, family but there is one who will never let you down – God.
Sometimes in our interpretation of our circumstance we feel God has. But He hasn’t. He may not always answer prayers in the way we think He should and we may not know why (Isaiah 55:9). But because we know He is the definition of goodness and love, we can be assured that He has something more perfect and right for us in the end.
God never changes; He is as faithful today as He was when He kept his promise and gave Abraham and Sarah a child, or delivering the Israelites from Egypt.
God is faithful in my salvation, in His love, in His promises. What area in our life do we need reminding that God is faithful?
Is it when we are tempted (“And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear,”) assurance of salvation or something else? Or do you need to come to Him, and know and experience God and His faithfulness for the first time?
