Think about that verse, not a single one has failed. Man has tried to prove He doesn't exist, that creation is a joke but they can't and never will, however hard they try! What else can you think of?
My Aunt chose the hymns to be sung at her funeral. Lyrics meant a lot to her, it was always about the words. These three hymns meant a lot to her as they were her personal testimony.
You may be like me, know them so well but sometimes we need to stop and meditate on the words when it's like that. Or maybe you think it's 'old fashioned' language but look past that and you will find comfort and truth.
Things were not easy in her life, but yet it was never about that but how God brought her through it - cancer at a young age, death of both parents as a teenager and having to bring up her younger brother (my dad) on her own and much more. But thinking about her and her life, it's never that, that I remember her ever talking about, in fact she rarely did, it was always about God's blessings to her and my dad.
These songs she could sing because it was her testimony - her story.
What song or part of the song spoke to you today?
Do you need to know or experience this for the first time?
- All the way my Savior leads me,
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well. - All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living Bread.
Though my weary steps may falter
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see;
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see. - All the way my Savior leads me,
Oh, the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father’s house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way;
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way.
Below is Chris Tomlin version of the song - from his album "Hello love."
In Christ Alone
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless Babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live, I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Could ever pluck me from His hand
Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I stand
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.
Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!
So back to the first question, about how every promise of God has come true, what in these songs to do you need to ponder about today and know they are true?
My aunt's is living this promise right now in heaven -
"Perfect rest to me is promised in my Father's house above: When my spirit, clothed immortal, wings its flight to realms of day, this my song through endless ages, Jesus led me all the way."
