“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.” Rev 3:20,21
If we accept Jesus as our saviour and Lord and open the door: – We have full and free access to His presence at any time. We don’t need priests, or pastors or anyone else to be an intermediary as we have direct access to God through Jesus, as Jesus is our intercessor/High priest.
(Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25)
As well as asking God for forgiveness from our sins, God wants us to come to him with all our prayers, requests, thanksgiving, supplications, and intercessions (we can pray for others and ask others to pray for us) 1 Timothy 2:1; and for us to cast all our anxieties and cares on Him 1 Peter 5:7.
Do you freely and often come into God’s presence? Or do you practically act like you have a castle fortress door: only pray on big occasions, it’s a hassle, not wanting God to see inside, being very defensive?
The image of Revelation 3:20 is one of close fellowship, eating with us.
When we are in His presence and walking with him, we don’t feel the draft: Like the glass door we can see the wind or snow outside, it may howl and be a huge storm but we are ultimately safe and protected when we stay in God’s presence – walking with God.
